Mrs. Pechar's 2nd Grade Classroom

My name is Nancy Pechar and this is an educational blog.  I do not know much about blogging but I am sure I will know much more after this class!
I teach 2nd grade at Bertha Barber in Bellevue and have been there for 6 years.  I received my teaching degree from UNO and began my career at St. Thomas More teaching 2nd grade.  I taught there for 6 years before deciding to start a family and stay home while my kids were young.  I started an in-home daycare and enjoyed being home with my children while providing excellent care for other working families.  After 6 years, I decided to continue my profession and taught 4th grade at St. Bernadette.  I then moved to Bellevue Public Schools and completed my Master's Degree through Doane College.  I love teaching and 2nd grade is my favorite grade to teach.
I feel that my experience with technology is adequate.  I feel that if my school or district requests that I do something, that I can do it.  I use technology daily.  However, I do not feel like I am a leader in technology or am out there looking for new things to incorporate into my classroom.  I feel like I am a follower.  When I do learn new things in technology, I still feel that age-old complaint of how to find the time to incorporate it into my classroom.  Right now I am using all of the new things from Pearson Math, the district websites, Brainpop and a few others.  I am taking all of the technology ccus that I can and am learning so much.  Techie Tuesdays have also been very helpful to learn what is out there and incorporate it into my teaching.
A digital photo of myself?  Now you are really overestimating my abilities!  Maybe by the end of class!

  1. I feel like I'm in the same boat with you as far as technology use. I think I use to be better at technology, because when I was in college and student teaching I used more of it all the time. However, in preschool, we don't have access to as much technology, nor really the need for it. Now I feel adequate, or even less than adequate, at technology.

  2. Hi Nancy,

Great 1st post! It's interesting how you and Kristina feel about technology and your use of it. I appreciate that both of you are trying to keep up and stay abreast of things by taking our on-line classes or attending Techie tuesdays.
As long as you are trying thats all that matters.

  3. Nancy,
Way to go taking all technology ccus! I love learning about new ways to incorporate technology into my classroom. It took a long time for me to get over my "fear" and just jump in. It is so much fun to figure out how to do something new all on your own. Our tech team makes learning new things fun and very easy!
